How do I join Spotlight?

You need qualifying credits or an accredited training — three professional credits, graduation from a Spotlight-recognised drama school, or signed agent representation with specific credits.

Spotlight has entry requirements that other casting platforms don't. It's not pay-to-join — you have to qualify.

The main routes in:

  1. Three professional credits in the last three years (film, TV, theatre, commercial with specific qualifying standards).
  2. Graduation from a Spotlight-recognised drama school — typically the accredited UK drama schools (RADA, LAMDA, Guildhall, Bristol Old Vic, Oxford School of Drama, etc.).
  3. Signed representation with a Spotlight-approved agent who vouches for your eligibility.

For newer actors:

  • Spotlight Graduate is a separate tier for recent drama school graduates — cheaper and slightly easier to qualify for in the first year post-graduation.
  • Young Performers has its own eligibility track for under-18s.

To apply:

  1. Go to join.spotlight.com and create an account.
  2. Select the membership type you qualify for.
  3. Submit credits, agent letter, or graduation documentation as proof.
  4. Pay the annual membership fee (£180–£245/year depending on tier).
  5. Wait for approval — usually 5–10 business days.

If you don't qualify yet:

Build credits through Backstage, open mics, fringe theatre, student films, and drama school before applying. Spotlight is the UK industry standard — worth the wait to qualify properly.
