Showcast
How do I add skill clips to Showcast?
Upload through Profile → Media, tag the clip to a specific skill category. Keep under 30 seconds per clip, one skill per clip, well-lit and well-mic'd.
Skill clips on Showcast let you visually prove skills that otherwise read as just a line on your profile.
To add:
- Go to Profile → Media → Clips (or Skill Clips).
- Upload your video.
- Tag it to a specific skill from the dropdown.
- Title the clip simply (e.g., "Guitar — Fingerpicking", "Mandarin — Conversational").
What to clip:
- Dialects and accents. Show a clean 20-second sample of each specific accent.
- Languages. Speak naturally for 20–30 seconds on a simple topic.
- Musical instruments. Play a recognizable phrase — 15 seconds is plenty.
- Physical skills. Stunts, martial arts, dance, horseback riding, stunt driving.
- Specialty skills. Juggling, gymnastics, magic, improv comedy (a clean short bit).
What makes a great skill clip:
- One skill per clip. Don't combine.
- Under 30 seconds — casting won't watch longer.
- Simple setup: plain background, good light, clean audio, no editing flash.
- Demonstrate fully. Don't hint — actually do the thing.
What NOT to do:
- Don't list a skill you can't clip cleanly. If you can't demonstrate "horseback riding" on video today, it shouldn't be on your profile.
- Don't use clips from old productions unless they show the skill clearly and are short.
- Don't voiceover clips with explanation. The demonstration is the thing.
Actors with 5+ skill clips get more type-specific auditions on Showcast, same pattern as on Casting Networks.
