How do I join Showcast?

Create an account at showcast.com.au, fill out your vitals, agent details, headshot, and reel, then pay the annual membership. Most Showcast actors are represented by an Australian or New Zealand agent.

Showcast is the primary casting platform in Australia and New Zealand. Unlike Spotlight, it doesn't have hard credit requirements — but most professional members are agent-represented.

To join:

  1. Go to showcast.com.au and click Join.
  2. Create an account with email + password.
  3. Fill out your profile: vitals, location, availability, agent details (if you have one), union status.
  4. Upload photos and a showreel.
  5. Pay the annual membership fee (around AU$150–200/year).
  6. Your profile goes live once complete.

What Showcast asks for:

  • Vitals: gender, pronoun, age range, ethnicity, height, eye/hair colour.
  • Base location + availability: which cities you're available to work in. This is crucial because AU casting is regional.
  • Agent: if you have one, list them. If not, list yourself as self-represented or "looking for representation."
  • Skills: dance, sports, languages, dialects, instruments.

Self-representation:

Showcast allows self-represented actors, and some book work this way — particularly for commercial and corporate roles. But TV and film casting in Australia flows mostly through agents.

For New Zealand actors:

Showcast is the platform most used by AU-NZ casting directors. NZ has smaller local platforms but Showcast gets you into the trans-Tasman market.
