Spotlight
How do I add skill clips on Spotlight?
Profile → Media → Add Clip. Attach each clip to a specific skill category. Keep clips under 30 seconds, one skill per clip, well-lit and clearly demonstrating the skill.
Spotlight skill clips are short videos that prove you can actually do what you've listed. They appear alongside your skill list and are searchable.
To add:
- Go to Profile → Media → Clips (or similar).
- Click Add Clip and upload your video.
- Tag the clip to the matching skill (e.g., "French — Fluent", "Horseback Riding", "Stage Combat").
- Title it simply — the platform pairs it with the skill tag automatically.
What makes a great skill clip:
- One skill per clip. Don't combine dialect + juggling.
- 15–30 seconds. Casting won't watch 2 minutes of drumming.
- Well-lit, clean audio, one take. No cuts, no music, no editing flash.
- Clearly demonstrates the skill. For languages, speak naturally. For physical skills, show the skill fully (a full punch combination, a full trick).
Skills most worth clipping:
- Languages and dialects. These are high-leverage — casting searches by specific accent and the clip proves you actually do it (not just "read from a phrasebook once").
- Physical skills. Stage combat, dance, martial arts, horseback riding, driving (especially stunt or performance driving).
- Musical skills. Instruments, singing styles, beatboxing, DJing.
- Specialty skills. Juggling, magic, contortion — things that differentiate.
Skills not worth clipping:
- Anything generic ("good at improv" — every actor says this).
- Anything you'd be embarrassed to demonstrate.
- Anything on your resume you haven't done in 5+ years.
Actors with 5+ skill clips consistently get more specific, type-matched auditions.
