Casting and industry news site used heavily by new and union actors in the US.
Find the posting, click Apply, pick your headshot and resume to send, and add a short cover note. Some castings require a self-tape uploaded at submission time.
Upload the video directly through the application form — Backstage accepts MP4 and MOV. Don't send a Google Drive, YouTube, or Vimeo link unless specifically requested.
Filter by union status, paid work, and verified posters. Be skeptical of anything that sounds too good, requires upfront fees, or asks for personal contact info in the casting notice.
Only if they message you first or the casting notice explicitly invites follow-ups. Cold-messaging casting directors through Backstage looks unprofessional and hurts more than it helps.
Backstage runs about $15–20/month or ~$150/year. The free account lets you browse but not apply — you need a paid subscription to submit.
Go to Account Settings → Subscription → Cancel. Backstage sometimes hides the cancel option — look for "Manage" or "Change Plan" links, and if all else fails, email support.
