How do I update my playing age on Spotlight?

Go to Profile → Basic Info → Playing Age. Set a range you can honestly play today on camera — usually a 5-10 year span centred on your actual age.

Playing age on Spotlight is searchable and one of the filters casting directors use most. Get it right.

To update:

  1. Log in and go to Profile → Basic Info (or Personal Details).
  2. Find Playing Age — it's typically a from/to range.
  3. Set the range and save.

How to set it:

  • Centre the range on your actual age. "Playing age: 28–38" for a 32-year-old is normal.
  • Be realistic about both ends. If you look older than you are, your range skews older. If you look younger, your range skews younger. Get honest input from a casting director or agent.
  • Keep the range tight (5–10 years). A 20–45 range says "I have no idea who I am." Casting directors will skip it.

Decisions that affect your range:

  • Recent significant life changes (major weight loss/gain, new hairstyle, facial hair).
  • How you currently present vs. how you presented in your headshots — make sure they match.
  • What you're consistently cast as. If you're 35 and only get cast in 45+ roles, your playing age is 40–50, not 30–40.

Hidden consequence:

If your actual age is visible on your profile (you've chosen to display it), some casting directors will skip profiles where the playing age is wildly different from actual age. Keep it plausible.

Update after any significant change in appearance.
